Time to Give Obama Some Love to Run on

Mon Jul 14, 2008 at 10:29:54 AM PDT

The guy we all love and who coincidentally is the only person who can end this 8 year nightmare is calling out for 25$ donations today. https://donate.barackobama.com/...
This is in direct contrast to mcsame's sudden corporate-donations windfall. He's been busy collecting huge checks from Washington lobbyists and special interest PACs, and has raised more money than ever before his team is bragging. Combined with the rnc, they now have more than $95 million in cash on hand.
It's time to get over all...                         (more)

McCain flip-flopped on torture...

Mon Jun 30, 2008 at 07:10:56 PM PDT

...so who cares what he says? He long ago failed all tests for the right to be President and his vote for torture is the thing that discredits him the most. ThinkProgress  reported on Feb. 13 of this year:

When confronted today with the decision of whether to stick with his conscience or cave to the right wing, McCain chose to ditch his principles and instead vote to preserve waterboarding:

Action Alert: Schumer Trying to Coax Lamont Not To Run

Mon Jun 26, 2006 at 07:48:33 AM PDT

The Intrepid David Sirota has a story up on his blog about, Schumer, a consummate Washington insider, is now using his position as head of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee to try to crush his own party's activists in Connecticut.

This is unconscionable and ridiculous. Does no one believe in democracy anymore? Write this man and let him know this is no way to run a democracy.

Contact him here or here.

Race: A Comedian's Perspective

Thu May 18, 2006 at 10:26:19 AM PDT

The very first thing one learns in a university level anthropology class is that there is only one race: The Human Race. That's it! That's all you really need to know. We all come from the same place and are all made of the same stuff.
There are people from different cultures, of different colours and creeds, with differing proclivities but they are all Human. Race is a word used to divide - even when it is used by well-meaning liberals.
So it follows that there can be no such thing as racism, unless of course you have a strong dislike for people from other planets, who I'm sure are avoiding our ignorant little world like it was the universe's trailer park.

How About Democratic Push Polling?

Tue Aug 09, 2005 at 11:00:40 AM PDT

Let me begin by stating I'm not advocating calling people up and lying to them, as was the case when the Bush team used this tactic to defeat all enemies including McCain and Kerry.
I'm advocating the creation of phone-banks and letting the constituents in Republican districts on what it is their Representatives and Senators are up to.
People are far too busy to follow some of the arcane goings on very closely and I'd be willing to bet less than half of Santorum's constituents have a clue as to the fact that he is against Griswold and what that really means.
I was reminded of his ass-hattery today when I stopped by for a visit at Eschaton...

GITMO is not a Gulag; Defending AI

Mon Jun 06, 2005 at 10:35:59 AM PDT

There's an axiom that goes, "he who defines the terms, wins the argument." I think liberals of all stripes need to learn this lesson, quickly.
The fuss over Amenesty International calling GITMO, a gulag this past week is a perfect example of an opportunity to define the terms that was missed.
When an ally commits hyperbole, as was the case (Stalin interred millions for crimes that were never committed), we should rush to defend our ally first, and then simply redefine the terms they were trying to call attention to.
It's judo, and it's as easy as saying...

Totals in Ohio Don't Add Up

Fri Nov 05, 2004 at 11:42:18 PM PDT

I've looked over the Ohio vote county by county and a couple of things don't make sense.

In the counties that voted Bush, the turnout in those counties is consistently between 60 and 70%.
In counties that voted Kerry, the turnout according to the vote is consistently between 50 and 60%.
What could account for this? Were the Dems not fired up? Every report said it was so. Did Kerry get all his votes?
If you were in Ohio and involved in on the ground recruiting and campaigning please check to see if the vote numbers of your county jives with what you saw on the gound.   more...
