Blogathon 2007 - 24 hours - 1 cause
Sat Jul 28, 2007 at 08:09:06 AM PDT
Who in their right mind would stay up and blog every 30 minutes over a 24 hour period? Key word = right mind! :)
Anyway, that person would be me! I am participating in Blogathon 2007 to raise money for ChemoAngels - a wonderful organization that I've been a part of for almost 2 years.
Keep on waiting .. waiting on the world to change
Fri Sep 01, 2006 at 08:06:46 AM PDT
I was listening to the radio and heard this song by John Mayer called "Waiting on the world to change" and this snippet caught my ear:
and when you trust your television
what you get is what you got
cause when they own the information, oh
they can bend it all they want
I think it says quite succinctly what we've been saying all along.
After the interesting diary by redmclain on dinner with Helen Thomas, I wrote Helen myself (and of course, provided a link to the story!). For what I wrote and Helen's response back, follow me below the fold.
BREAKING: Puffy McMoonFace (Scotty Mc) resigns
Wed Apr 19, 2006 at 06:44:20 AM PDT
Just heard this on Stephanie Miller. Whatever will Karate Explosions do now???
And resigns??? hahahah Shoved off a cliff is more like it. Now he can have his small nervous breakdown.
Tony Snow is apparently in line for it. I will miss Puffy boy. He provided some big snark fun. Somehow, the next one won't be as much fun, I think.
More diaries to follow on this I'm sure. Just wanted to post it.
Asking for some graphics help, please
Sun Apr 09, 2006 at 02:58:54 PM PDT
We are walking in the Relay for Life in honor of my sweet goddaughter Lauren who passed away March 5, 2006 from Ewing's Sarcoma (diary I posted about her here: http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2006/3/6/235910/1486)
We want to have shirts made to wear for the Relay and I'm seriously artistically underskilled because I can't for the life of me figure out how to do a graphic for it. I was going to either get it on Cafe Press or take it to a place locally (near Annapolis, MD).
What am I asking? Follow me, won't you?
A short life well lived
Mon Mar 06, 2006 at 08:59:10 PM PDT
My 19 year old goddaughter, Lauren, passed away Sunday morning after a 2 year battle with Ewing's Sarcoma. She was the light of my life, my best friend, my soul mate and the dearest person I know.
She truly "walked the talk" of a christian life and lived her life with grace and honor. This is a picture of her and her most beloved "pootie" (Cindy) from Christmas 2005.

AngryBlackBitch lays it out (again)
Sat Nov 12, 2005 at 06:05:16 AM PDT
Well, I wish this kind of stuff would come from my own brain but it seems my purpose in life (KOS life, anyway) is showcasing others.
I've mentioned ABB before but you seriously have to read her blog to get a feel for her. She has a gift for telling it like it is - no BS. I think I will come back as her in my next life.

Woo-Woo Diary: Aura Reader cautions against Miers
Sat Oct 08, 2005 at 07:14:11 PM PDT
Those that know me well know that I am of a definite metaphysical bent. One of my teachers is a woman named Rose Rosetree who is an excellent aura reader (quite well known in the field) and teacher. She did a reading on bush that was spot on.
Anyway, in her monthly ezine, she writes about Harriet Miers and I think it's worth passing on because Rose has some serious concerns.
You can check her out yourself by going to her site: http://www.rose-rosetree.com ... I know her personally and she's been doing this for many years and is always on target.
I'm not saying that this is the de facto truth, but if you are open to this kind of thing, it's definitely another piece of information to ponder.
Just sayin' ... more below.
Help me break it down for my goddaughter
Sun Jul 31, 2005 at 10:31:08 AM PDT
I figured a slow-ish Sunday might be a good time to post this since it won't (hopefully) knock off more important issues.
My goddaughter is 19 and even though I don't have a child, I love her as if she were my own. She's a cancer survivor and is off to UVA in the fall.
She is also, much to my chagrin, a republican (by way of her 'rents). She knows I am completely appalled by this admin but we don't discuss it much because I honor her right to her own opinions.
Why am I asking for your help, fellow Kossacks?

Angry Black Bitch's take on Scooter's press conference
Wed Jun 29, 2005 at 09:50:37 AM PDT
If you haven't had a chance to read this chick's blog (
http://angryblackbitch.blogspot.com/) you really should head on over there STAT. She's always so on point and hilarious about all this crap (and more). (I love how she calls him "Scooter" - fits perfectly)
I was waiting on her take of last night's "come to Jesus" chat w had with the nation and she didn't let me down.
Herewith I present AngryBlackBitch:
My bitchy ass sat down with a very strong vodka cran and a full pack of cigs to listen to Scooter last night. When preparing for a Presidential address, one must first determine which media misinformation vehicle to view. A bitch chose CNN as my primary vehicle with a TiVo backup of NBC. Wolfie (we are so close you just wouldn't believe my ass if I shared the details) was looking flushed and windblown. This bitch adores Wolf Blitzer! Too cute! NBC had desperately inserted Tim Russert's overworked ass into their coverage, because the new baby anchor replacement for Brokaw has been know to fuck up live news. That poor producer must have been shitting bricks! DRAMA.
Hit pause...

Update on DrainBamaged (aka Paul) - crap news
Mon May 09, 2005 at 10:31:58 AM PDT
Keep a good positive thought for our boy if you can. He's gonna need it.
I know we all have our struggles but Paul seems like he's got more than his share. As always, he keeps a positive mindset. If you can send him some healing energy, I know he'd appreciate it.
A week ago they found some spots on his back when he was getting an MRI and sent him for a biopsy.
Update on DrainBamaged (aka Paul)
Thu Apr 07, 2005 at 09:13:14 AM PDT
Paul's been MIA from these parts for a while and while he and I keep in touch quite regularly, I know you guys have been wondering about him. I posted a bit about him in the diary on MB the other day and there was a nice response of people wondering about him.
Here's an email I just got from him which he gave permission to post.
Those who are sending him healing energy, thoughts, vibes, whatever - apparently, it's helping! Keep up the good thoughts.
More below the fold (as they say).
I am but one person
Mon Feb 14, 2005 at 05:17:02 AM PDT

I am only one; but still I am one. I cannot do everything, but still I can do something. I will not refuse to do the something I can do.
- Helen Keller
The above is from here: http://www.actsofkindness.org/ and it's actually a really nice site. Lots of ideas. You may not have a buttload of money to buy fancy gifts, but you can always do a kind thing for someone and chances are, they will remember it more than the fancy gift.
Has someone done a kind thing for you recently, out of the blue? Tell us about it. It's a Monday, it's Valentine's Day ... share the lurve.

DrainBamaged and Kossacks in the DC area.
Mon Jan 31, 2005 at 09:59:13 AM PDT
From DrainBamaged by way of Bexley (just for now):
I still can't make a diary. The one week waiting period ends tomorrow afternoon. Bexley has graciously given me this space, again. Thanks,
Bexley :)
Because of the bad weather Saturday night and Sunday morning we decided not to get together. So, I'm hoping that the weather this weekend is a
little bit better. I'd like to meet as many members as I can. All of you Kossacks that are in the Northern Virginia, Maryland, Washington
D.C. area please let me know if you'd like to get together this Saturday or Sunday. Can you say, "Road Trip?" Good :) I knew you could. hehehehehe

Help a Vet - updated thread
Wed Jan 26, 2005 at 11:58:37 AM PDT
Hi all ...
Just an update on stuff with Paul (who still can't seem to post here but will as soon as he's able):
So far, you all have donated about $2000. I think he's a bit overwhelmed, actually by it. :) I would be too.
Some have suggested a goal amount we can work toward in helping him and I think that's a good idea.
